It is known as the oldest settlement in Iceland that was originated by the Swedish viking Gardar Svavarasson moored on his ship to the coast of the bay in 870. The name of the city means “the bay where the house stands”. A perfect place to get to know what the polar night looks like and to see the beauty of the country.
Husavik Church
The wooden church was built in 1907 by Rögnvaldur Olafsson, an architect from Iceland. The church was designed in line with the Swiss chalet style. It hosts marriages, baptisms and an annual general meeting.

The Husavik Lighthouse was built in 1956. It is 12 meters high and stands 49 meters above sealevel on the Husavik Cape. It is considered one of Husavik most beautiful areas and will become a unique experience for those who want to see amazing landscapes and magnificent nature.
