Highlights

Arch of Viceroy
Arch of Viceroy, also known as Viceroy's Arch, was erected in 1599 in Goa, India, by Viceroy Francisco da Gama, the grandson of Vasco da Gama. The arch was restored in 1954 after it faced a collapse. The side of the arch that faces the river, has a deer emblem on Vasco da Gama's coat of arms. The arch has a statue of Vasco da Gama at the centre. The side that faces the city has a sculpture of a European woman wearing a crown and a robe, holding a sword in one hand and an open book in the other.
Basilica of Bom Jesus
The Basilica of Bom Jesus (Portuguese: Basílica do Bom Jesus; Konkani: Borea Jezuchi Bajilika) is a Roman Catholic basilica located in Goa, India, and is part of the Churches and convents of Goa UNESCO World Heritage Site. The basilica is located in Old Goa, former capital of Portuguese India, and holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. 'Bom Jesus' (literally, 'Good (or Holy) Jesus') is the name used for the Ecce Homo in the countries of Portuguese colonization. The Jesuit church is India's first minor basilica, and is considered to be one of the best examples of baroque architecture and Portuguese Colonial architecture in India. It is one of the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Origin in the World.
Chapel of St. Catherine (Old Goa)
The Chapel of St. Catherine is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Old Goa in the same compound as Se Cathedral and the Church and Convent of St. Francis of Assisi. It was built in 1510 in the Baroque architectural style, and has a brown and white facade. It faces the Mandovi River and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India along with the other monuments in the compound. The chapel is not functional.
Church and Convent of St. Francis of Assisi
The Church of St. Francis of Assisi was built in 1661 by the Portuguese in the Portuguese Viceroyalty of India. The Church of St. Francis of Assisi, together with a convent, was established by eight Portuguese Franciscan friars who landed in Goa in 1517.
Church and Convent of St. Monica
St. Monica Church and convent is situated in the Holy Hill or the Monte Santo of Old Goa, opposite to the ruins of St. Augustine Church. This is also known as the Royal Monastery of Santa Monica. It was started in 1606 but was finished only in 1627, because a fire destroyed the building in 1620. It took 15 years to rebuild. It is Goa's only convent for nuns. It used to house around 150 cloistered nuns who were called the daughters of St. Monica. The Church and the Convent of St Monica is acclaimed as the first nunnery of the East. The Convent has a vast courtyard with a cloister and its three storeys have numerous cells and halls. It was closed as a nunnery after its last sister died in 1885. It was reinstated to church status in 1968.
Church of Our Lady of the Rosary
The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary is a Catholic church built between 1544 and 1547, in Old Goa, State of Goa, India. This church is part of the collection belonging to the World Heritage Site of churches and convents of Goa.
Church of St. Augustine (Goa)
Church of St. Augustine is a ruined church complex located in Old Goa. The church was completed in 1602 and is part of the World Heritage Site, Churches and convents of Goa. The church had four towers of which only one remains. The remaining tower is a four-storied structure built of laterite and 46 m in height. Excavations show that the complex had eight chapels, four altars and a convent.
Goa
Goa is a state on the southwestern coast of India within the region known as the Konkan, and geographically separated from the Deccan highlands by the Western Ghats.It is surrounded by the Indian states of Maharashtra to the north and Karnataka to the east and south, with the Arabian Sea forming its western coast. It is India's smallest state by area and the fourth-smallest by population. Goa has the highest GDP per capita among all Indian states, two and a half times that of the country. It was ranked the best-placed state by the Eleventh Finance Commission for its infrastructure and ranked on top for the best quality of life in India by the National Commission on Population based on the 12 Indicators.
Old Goa
Old Goa is a historical city situated on the southern banks of the Mandovi River in the Ilhas (present-day Tiswadi) sub-district of North Goa in the Indian state of Goa. The city was established by the Bijapur Sultanate in the 15th century and served as capital of Portuguese India from the 16th century until its abandonment in the 18th century due to a plague. Under the Portuguese, it is said to have once been a city of nearly 200,000 wherefrom, before the plague, the Portuguese traded across continents. The remains of the city are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Old Goa is approximately 10 kilometres east of the state capital Panaji (Portuguese: Nova Goa, lit. 'New Goa').
Se Cathedral
The Sé Catedral de Santa Catarina, known as Se Cathedral, is the cathedral of the Latin Rite Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Goa and Daman and the seat of the Patriarch of the East Indies. It is located in Old Goa, India.
