However there are plenty of attractions to visit here not to mention its great location that makes Hafnarfjordur even more attractive for tourists. Several annual events such as the Bright days festival and the Viking festival are also kept here.

Hafnarfjordur Free Church is a church in the Free Lutheran congregation of Iceland founded on 22 April 1913. Known ad Iceland's third largest religious body, after the Reykjavik Free Church and the Church of Iceland.
Hafnarfjordur harbour
Hafnarfjörður harbour is a fishing port that accommodates cruise ships. Foreign merchants once having found a secluded harbour decided to established the city that today is known as Hafnarfjörður, what means Harbour Fjord. For centuries local merchants traded with Englishmen as well as Dutch and German merchants that resulted in Hafnarfjörður becoming one of the Iceland major trading centre by 18th century. Though today commerce and services are also developed in town, fishing still remains one of its main industries.
Hellisgerdi Park
A beautiful lava park located in Hafnarfjörður is believed to be inhabited by mysterious and magical creatures such as elves, huldufolk (hidden people) and dwarfs. A great place to listen to myths and legends, to enjoy walks with elfs and even to try elf coffee from the hidden world!
