Highlights

Guiyuan Temple
Guiyuan Buddhist Temple is situated in the west section of Hanyang district in Wuhan City. Being one of the four best temples in Wuhan, the temple, which was originally established in 1658 in the Qing Dynasty, was initially built on the site of Wuzhangpu Kuiyuan in the Ming Dynasty. Though it is a construction of a Buddhist temple, it is also in a garden style. The distribution is compact, and the design is delicate. The temple is even interspersed by kiosks and parterres. There are five courtyards in Guiyuan Temple: the eastern courtyard, the western courtyard, the southern courtyard, the northern courtyard, and the middle courtyard.
Hubei Provincial Museum
The Hubei Provincial Museum is one of the best known museums in China, with a large amount of state-level historic and cultural relics. Established in 1953, the museum moved to its present location in 1960 and gained its present name in 1963. Since 1999 a number of new buildings have been added. The museum received 1,992,512 visitors in 2017. The museum is located in the Wuchang District of Wuhan, Hubei Province, not far from the west shore of Wuhan's East Lake. It has a collection of over 200,000 objects, including the Sword of Goujian, an ancient set of bronze bells (Bianzhong) and extensive artifacts from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng and the tombs at Baoshan. The particular importance of several of the archaeological items in the museum's collection has been recognized by the national government by including them into the short list of Chinese cultural relics forbidden to be exhibited abroad.
Wuhan
Wuhan is the capital of Hubei Province in China and a major port on the Yangtse River. Wuhan once consisted of three separate cities; Hanyang, Hankou, and Wuchang. Hanyang was a busy port as long as 3,000 years ago in the Han Dynasty. Yellow Crane Tower was first built in 223BCE and gained fame throughout China through the poetry of Cui Hao during the Tang Dynasty. Wuchang has been a center of learning for centuries, especially in the field of the arts. It became a provincial capital in the Yuan Dynasty. In 1927, Hanyang, Hankou, and Wuchang were united to form the city of Wuhan. The city fell under siege by the Japanese during WWII and was liberated in 1949. With the opening of China, Wuhan was reopened in 1992 for the first time since the revolution. Today, Wuhan is one of China's largest cities and remains an important center of commerce. While many visitors overlook Wuhan as just another city, beneath its industrial exterior a rewarding tapestry of history and cultural arts awaits.
Yellow Crane Tower
The Yellow Crane Tower is one of the Four Great Towers of China. Sitting atop Snake Hill, on the banks of the Yangtze River, this iconic building is one of the most celebrated landmarks in Wuhan. While tourists flock to see the upturned turrets which define this yellow-tiled pagoda, the tower also has a long and colourful history. There are a number of legends which tell the tale of how the Yellow Crane Tower came to be. The most widely told is the story of a wine merchant named Xin. Today, the tower stands proudly in the centre of Wuhan. The inner wall of the building is now home to an exquisite mosaic artwork which stretches out over multiple storeys and tells the story of the Yellow Crane Tower.
