Highlights

Gulangyu
Gulangyu, Gulang Island or Kulangsu is a pedestrian-only island off the coast of Xiamen, Fujian Province in southeastern China. A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, the island is about 2 km2 (0.77 sq mi) in area, and is reached by an 8-minute ferry ride from downtown Xiamen. Although only about 20,000 people live on the island, Gulangyu is a major domestic tourist destination, attracting more than 10 million visitors per year, and making it one of China's most visited tourist attractions. Gulangyu not only bans cars, but also bicycles. The only vehicles permitted are small electric buggies and electric government service vehicles.
Longtou Road
Longtou Road Commercial Street is the main commercial street in Gulangyu Island. There are a lot of craft shops, calligraphy and painting shops opening on both sides of the road, such as beaded embroider, carved lacquer line, color bar, painted sculptures, ceramics and so on. Not only can appreciate antiques from all over the country, jade, calligraphy and porcelain, but also you can step into some southern dried food stores that can meet the requirements of northern people.
Xiamen
Located at the southeast coast of China, Xiamen is a tourist city of Fujian Province famous for its attractive seascape. As one of the major seaports since ancient times, it boasts a wide gulf with deep water but without freezing and silting. The name was consequently given, which means 'the gate of China'. As one of the forerunners of the special economic zones of China, the city mainly consisting of Xiamen Island, Gulangyu Island, the north bank area of the Jiulong River and Tong'an County, is connected with the mainland by the Gaoji Seawall, Xiamen Bridge, etc. The city has been called the Egret Island because of the hundreds of thousands of egrets inhabiting there. This is due to the beautiful natural scenery, the fresh air and the clean environment of the city.
Yanwu Bridge
The construction started in December 2001, and it was put into operation in September 2003. It is the bridge nearest to the sea surface in the world and looks like it is floating on the sea when the tide rises.
